Neil Critchell, Head Coach, UKCC level 3 trained, qualified coach mentor. Neil
is a Software Engineer/Analyst in real life! Neil is also the Academy Treasurer .
Helen Critchell, UKCC level 2 coach and Chair of the Cambs Badminton Academy, committed to coaching
using NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) and to her continual professional development. Helen is a portrait and nature
artist when she finds a little spare time! She is also the Fundraising Officer for the Academy. Helen was nominated
by Badminton England in 2010 as the Yonex, All England Volunteer of the Year.
Tracy Woodsmith, Honorary Secretary. Tracy is a legal secretary (so no surprises of why she
became the Honorary Secretary!). Tracy became involved with the Academy because she was excited at its vision.
Being a part of it is very rewarding, she declares!
Vicky and Dave Barker, Membership Secretary co-operative. Vicky and Dave have two children who
attend the Academy and have been committed to us since they joined. We are delighted to have them onboard.
Helen Bottom, Child Welfare Officer. Helen is a midwife, with one young son who attends the Academy. Helen is
experienced in the world of Child Welfare and is a very welcome fount of knowledge in this very important role.
Tony Smith, Tournament Diary Secretary and UKCC level 1 assistant coach. Married to Tracy and a very keen
badminton and league player, Tony and Tracy have two sons who train with the Academy.
Daniel Chan, UKCC level 1 assistant coach. Daniel is a valuable member of the committee and very supportive of all
the Academy activities.
Rosie Veitch, Publicity Officer. With the ever increasing amount of press coverage that the Academy is attracting,
the Academy needs someone who has their finger on the pulse!
David Shepherd, UKCC level 1 Assistant Coach and Badminton England Young Officials Mentor both
nationally and in the county. David is a 18 yr old student and passed his level 1 when he was 16. He is also a
qualified badminton Line Judge and officiates at national and international level. David was also nominated as
Young Volunteer of the Year by Badminton England for his contribution to both coaching and working with young
officials. David is also on the co-operative of young Academy members who will act as Cambs Junior League Secretary.
Richard May, Adult Team Manager. Richard has two sons who train extensively within the Academy and Richard has
kindly said he will develop the adult league teams within the Academy. Richard plays to a high standard and would be a good leader.
Ian Brown, Kit Manager. Ian is father to a son who trains with the Academy he has a great deal of experience in
dealing with team kit. We will appreciate someone keeping on top of this!
Sarah and Ian Walker, Sub Committee leaders for refreshments/catering. Sarah and Ian will be heading up a large and
very keen sub-committee dedicated to providing catering for all the Academy's large events around the county. This is a
very important area of fundraising and a very much appreciated team of people.
David Shepherd, Matt Barker, Ben Walker, Natalie Primavera, League Secretary Co-operative. The junior league will be
run by a group of junior members of the Academy.
Academy in "twinning" talks with Normandy badminton club following the Academy players
taking part in the French International Tournament in Val de Reuil, Normandy, on Easter weekend!
