Academy Trophies

When we see our young players put their heart and soul into training, competing and representing our Academy we feel they should be rewarded and their achievements recognised. To that end we have come up with a set of four trophies that we will award, each year, to Academy players of any age or ability. These trophies will be looked after for a year by the players who win them and returned in time (cleaned!) for the next deserving players in the following year. Winners will be listed on a page on this website and notified after Easter each year.

These are our new trophies (pictures coming soon):

  1. Cambs Badminton Academy Contribution Award - this is a bespoke wooden trophy that will be awarded to the young player who contributes the most to the Academy - whether in voluntary help, general behaviour or influence held over other players. This is a general award and can be awarded to any junior member of the Academy who stands out as contributing in a beneficial way to the Academy or other members.

  2. The Iris Green Memorial Trophy - CBA Commitment Cup for Best Girl - this will be a silver plated trophy donated to the Academy by Helen Critchell in memory of her mum who was very proud of her achievements with building up the Academy and who also fostered Helen's love of sport from a very early age. This cup will be for the girl who, throughout the year, showed the most commitment to her training, competition, keeping her journal up to date, getting to training on time and representing the Academy. This award will be for any girl, of any age and of any ability but who shows an outstanding commitment to her sport and the Academy.

  3. The Classic Miniatures Trophy - CBA Commitment Cup for Best Boy - This silver plated cup is donated to the Academy by Classic Miniatures, the company that makes all our bespoke medals) and will be for the boy who, throughout the year, showed the most commitment to his training, competition, keeping his journal up to date, getting to training on time and representing the Academy. This award will be for any boy, of any age and of any ability but who shows an outstanding commitment to his sport and the Academy.

  4. Cambs Badminton Academy Achievement Award - this will be a wooden shield for either girl or boy who shows outstanding achievements in the sport at any level of play. This will be proved in the number of competitions entered and results that show improvement throughout the season or commitment to (and achieving) personal goals set throughout the year. This can also be awarded to any player who has overcome difficulties along the way and proved their determination to be successful. This award will be for any girl or boy, of any age and of any ability who has shown the most improvement or achievement over the course of the year.
